Signs of Spring

There are some definite signs of spring in my neighborhood! Yesterday the temps rose to the mid 50s. The average high for this time of year is the low 40s, so we were delighted to enjoy some early spring weather.

The other thing I am rejoicing about is the lack of snow. We have no snow on the ground! This winter, as places such as Washington, DC, and New York got dumped on, Coastal Maine was spared. The last sizable storm here was about 7 weeks ago. As near as I can tell, Portland, Maine has received less than 40 inches of snow this winter, compared to our annual average of about 72 inches. I predicted a mild winter, and I was right.

Now indoors, there are also sure signs of spring. Tonight is the Academy Awards ceremony in LA. Yesterday I helped my friend prepare for her annual Oscar Party. She had gotten a few Oscar posters, which we managed to get framed and ready for display.

She also bought some special booze for our festivities. It's called Hypnotiq, and the company's website says it is an "exquisite blend of premium vodka, natural tropical fruit juices and a hint of Cognac." Of course, we had to taste-test it. It reminded me of my Millennium visit to Moorea, an island in the South Pacific. I guess it was the tropical juices that rekindled that memory. In any case, it's good stuff. The color is a lovely turquoise-y blue which my friend calls Avatar Blue. (I had to have this explained to me, not having seen the movie.)

Well, it is too nice a day to stay inside. Whatever you have planned today, I hope you have an enjoyable Sunday & a wonderful week!

What beautiful images!
Hooray for a mild winter, too.

Hypnotiq, you say? Hmmm, sounds tempting!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I'm in the mid-south, and we've had more snow than you. In fact, there has been snow on the ground since December 18! That's almost unheard of here.

On a bettern note, the first daffodils are finally blooming.

It sounds like you guys had a fun Oscar night! I've been thinking of celebrating the warm weather by making some Mojitos. I'm not much of a bartender, but I'm thinking perhaps I can talk my brother-in-law into it.

Gorgeous photos! "Only" 40 inches of snow? Wow! Perhaps mud season won't be so bad then ;)

Great images and the Oscars party sounds fantastic. Methinks I need to have one of those myself next year!
