Images of Autumn in Maine ~ Part I

The autumn color in Maine is starting to change over to mostly browns and oranges, but at the request of Marsi at The Cottage Cheese, I'm sharing a small gallery of photos I took at my local Audubon Center on October 23rd. Color was still at peak then so there were plenty of brilliant reds and yellows.

Leaves
by Elsie N. Brady

How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.

At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.

Stop back Wednesday for more photos of autumn in Maine. Also if you haven't checked out The Cottage Cheese on Etsy, you should!

Aw, you are too sweet Beth! These are all so beautiful. My favorite is the photo of the trees reflected on the pond.

Goooorgeous!!! There's nothing like Fall up north! Every time fall comes around, I still get homesick for Michigan with its brilliant colors, the scent of leaves being burned and fresh apple cider! Thank you for that memory - and for sharing our Michigan years with us... Love, Silke
