Seaside Saturday ~ March 1, 2014

Here we are in a new month, and the year is now 1/6 over. Hard to believe! All of us in the Northeast are feeling ready for spring! There is a certain beauty to Maine in winter, however. To give you a glimpse of the Maine Coast in March, I dipped into the photographic archives and pulled these 3 images from March 2011. I was up the Coast at Reid State Park, and for the first time, I was there after dark. The occasion? The super moon! The park stayed open after sunset, and a small group of hearty folks turned out to see the moon rise from the sea. It was a wonderful sight! Unfortunately, I couldn't capture it with my camera, but here are a few shots I did manage before it got dark. Please click on each photo for a better look.

Seaside Saturday ~ November 2, 2013

Seaside Saturday is back! No matter what the calendar or the weatherman say, it's always a good day for a walk on the beach...

A little fog only adds to the ambiance. This is Ferry Beach in Saco, Maine. (Click on each image for a better look.)

I took this picture of colorful rowboats several years ago when I was on the way to a party on an island in Casco Bay.

Another foggy day scene, this one at Five Islands in Georgetown, Maine.

More brightly colored boats. This, too, was taken in Five Islands, but on a much sunnier day.

My favorite place in the world, any time, any season: Reid State Park.

We finish up our walk on the beach, leaving footprints but taking our memories with us.

Back to blogging: the journey continues

It has been many months since I posted here, and the reason is simple: I was busy saving my own life. After being diagnosed with cancer in February, I underwent major surgery, minor surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. I'm happy to say that I am now cancer-free and eagerly getting back to living my life!

One of the things I missed out on this summer was spending time at the beach. Luckily, we've had a fairly warm fall, so I've been able to get out and walk the beach. There is NOTHING more relaxing for me than being by the ocean.

I've got a lot of big, BIG dreams I'll be pursuing from here on out. To help me stay focused and pumped up, I've made a new vision board and am reading several inspiring books.

It's fun to contemplate my bright future! I don't know how often I'll be blogging, but check back here occasionally to see what I've got going on.

[All photos here were taken by me at Hills Beach in Biddeford, Maine]

Seaside Saturday

I gave myself the best birthday gift I could think of: a day trip to my favorite place, a state park that's right on the Maine Coast, about 44 miles from my home. It was only the second time I was there this summer, which is so depressing I cannot even bear to think about it. But the good news is I had a simply fabulous afternoon! The weather was perfect, the park was not crowded, and I timed it so that I could sit on a rock as the tide came in and just relax and let the water wash away my cares. It worked! It always works! Better for me than meditation or anything else one might suggest for clearing away worries and cobwebs from my brain. Anyway, please enjoy these pictures I took on Wednesday at the Maine Coast. (Click on the first image so you can see them better.)
