Seaside Saturday: Images of the Maine Coast ~ Feb. 26th

Welcome to Saturday, but not just any Saturday -- Seaside Saturday! Here is your chance to take a few relaxing moments for a dream vacation on the Maine Coast. Please click on each photo so you can really "feel" what it's like to be seaside.


Can't you just smell the salty air and hear the waves crashing on the shore?

Seaside Saturday: Images of the Maine Coast ~ Feb. 19th

This week's Seaside Saturday is all about rowboats! Because sometimes it's fun to actually get out onto the sea. Or if you're like me, sometimes it's fun just to take pictures of boats! I can't remember the last time I was in a boat on the ocean. But I sure do like to photograph boats in their moorings.




I also like to dream about what it would be like to be a little boat on the lovely, rolling ocean...

I wish I were a rowboat,
Rowing out to sea
And all the pretty mermaids
Would come to visit me.
I’d toss and turn in waves of green
Tickled by moss unseen
If I were a rowboat
Rowing out to sea.

Seaside Saturday: Images of the Maine Coast ~ Jan. 29th

I decided to try something new, which I'm calling Seaside Saturday. On Saturdays, I'll post images of the Maine Coast. This week, I turned to my archives for these photos of Reid State Park in Georgetown, Maine, which I took last winter. As you can clearly see, Maine is beautiful in every season!

The Beauty of Maine ~ January

I always say that Maine is beautiful in any season...



Oh, the summers are certainly sublime. During the months of July and August, I cannot imagine being in a better place than Maine.



But in January, there is still lots to love about the Pine Tree State. You just might have to look a little harder to appreciate winter's beauty.



This past week, I made a point of going to Portland Head Light to see if there was much wave action.



It turned out that the waves were pretty active although the sea was not as rough as I've seen it after other big storms.





Luckily, I arrived in late afternoon, when the sky was putting on a lovely light show. I took about 80 or 90 photos before heading back home.





The sun was setting as I was driving through Portland so I raced to the Town Landing in Falmouth to get a good view of the sunset over Casco Bay.



I made it in time to see a beautiful pink and gray sky...







And so you can see that winter sunsets here are glorious.



And they're just one reason that I say that Maine is beautiful year-round.
